Helen Jean Kreidermacher

Helen J. Kreidermacher, age 82 of Forest Park, IL (formerly of Altura) died at Oak Park Hospital in Illinois on April 23, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Helen Jean Kreidermacher was born on June 3, 1941 the daughter of Jacob and Margaret (Kammerer) Kreidermacher in St. Paul, MN. She attended Altura Elementary School and Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Rollingstone, graduating in 1959 as Co-Valedictorian.  She attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing and received her nursing diploma in 1962.   She then attended DePaul University and received her Bachelor’s degree in 1990 and Rush University where she received her Master’s degree in Nursing, in 1994. Helen worked as a nurse for 40 years, retiring in 2004. At the end of her nursing career, Helen enrolled in the Lay Ministry Program with the Archdiocese of Chicago and completed her studies in 2005. She was very involved in the ministry at St. Bernadine Parish in Forest Park, IL.  Helen held numerous roles within her parish and was a very active volunteer within her community. She was known for crocheting and knitting prayer shawls that were shared with countless people over the years. She was a pillar of the St. Bernadine Parish community and will be truly missed.

Helen is lovingly survived by her special friend Tom Chisholm of Forest Park, IL., her siblings: Lloyd (Linda) Kreidermacher of Altura, Everett (Mary Ann) Kreidermacher of Altura, Janet Speltz of Stewartville, Yvonne (Ron) Ruhoff of Altura, Audrey (Denny) Ostlund of Pine Island, Stan (Pam) Kreidermacher of Altura, Marvin (Becky) Kreidermacher of Altura and Marlene (David Schwantz) Spencer of Altura, 32 nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother-in-law Rick Spencer in 1994 and her nephew Mark Speltz in 2019.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, MN with Father Chinnappa officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be her godsons Jason Kreidermacher and Brent Ruhoff

Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services.

Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Oak Ridge near Altura, MN.

Helen’s family would like to thank her caregiver, Bona Valbona, for her wonderful care and for being at her side throughout this journey.

Memorials can be given in Helen’s name to your favorite charity.
