Gregory King

Gregory Scott King, age 68, of La Crosse, WI, died July 27, 2026, at the Tomah VA Medical Center.

Gregory was born August 10, 1957, in La Crosse, the son of Sylvester and Janet (Arnez) King. He graduated from Westby Area High School. He was united in marriage to Valerie Faye October 17, 1981. The couple would later divorce. He honorably served his country in the United States Airforce.

Gregory was an avid outdoorsmen and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also a great cook, especially grilling out – rain or shine! He liked computers, building things and working on DIY projects. He loved to take long rides through the woods, and around Coon Valley. More than anything, he loved to spend time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Janet (Arenz) King, and Sylvester King; brother-in-law, Alton Faye Jr.; mother-in-law, Dolly (King) Faye; and father-in-law, Alton Faye Sr.

He is survived by Valerie (Faye) King; daughter, Ashley Hersey; son Wade Faye; grandchildren: Duncan King, Arieanna Hersey, Miguel Hersey, Nolan Hersey, Mikaela Faye, Sadie Faye, Riley Faye, Gavin Faye; siblings: Debbie Holen, Bruce King, Kevin King; brother-in-law, David (Barb) Faye, and sister-in-law Diane (Fay) Deabay

The family would like to thank: Tomah VA Medical Center for caring for Gregory and his family in a time of need, for giving him a NVDA, a Bedside Closure Service, and an Honor Escort; Hoff Funeral & Cremation Services for taking care of Gregory King, for helping his daughter Ashley Hersey make the final arrangements; and to all those who offered help, support and condolences.

Gregory’s final wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes spread. According to his wishes no services will be held. Memorials are preferred to the family.
