August 10, 1957 - July 27, 2026

Gregory Scott King age 68 of LaCrosse WI passed away Monday July 27, 2026 at the Tomah VA Medical Center, with his family by his side following a short battle with cancer.

Greg was born on August 10, 1957 to Sylvester King Jr. and Janet (Arenz) King. He graduated from Westby High School in 1975. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1978 where he honorably served as a Ground Radio Communications and Equipment Specialist, and was discharged in 1984.

Greg married the love of his life Valerie Faye on October 17, 1981, they would later divorce. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working with computers, DIY construction projects, as well as cooking or grilling many different foods. He loved spending time with his family, and driving the scenic roads of the Coulee Region.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents Sylvester King Jr. and Janet King, his in-laws Alton Faye Sr. and Dolly Faye, and his good friend and brother-in-law Alton Faye Jr.

He is survived by Valerie (Faye) King, Ashley Hersey (Daughter), Wade Faye (Son), and grandchildren Duncan, Arieanna, Miguel, Nolan, Mikaela, Sadie, Riley and Gavin. He is also survived by his siblings Deb (Jon) Holen, Bruce (Nancy) King and Kevin (Rhonda) King, David (Barb) Faye, Diane (Fay) Deabay, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a few in-laws.

The family would like to thank the Tomah VA Medical Center for caring for Gregory and his family in time of need, for giving him a NVDA, a Bedside Closure Service, and an Honor Escort. They would also like to thank Hoff Funeral and Cremation Services for assisting his daughter Ashley in making the final arrangements, and especially to all those who offered help, support and condolences at this difficult time.

Gregory’s final wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes spread. According to his wishes no services will be held. Memorials are preferred to the family.
