Florence Esther Basner

RUSHFORD, MINN. - Florence E. Basner, 97, of Rushford, died Thursday, February 12, 2004, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. She was born on November 30, 1906, in Arendahl Township of Fillmore County to Ole B. and Helena Boyum. Florence was raised in the North Prairie area and attended the Boyum School. She worked in the restaurant and medical fields in Rochester, Minn. for several years. Florence then moved to Los Angeles, California where she met George Basner. Florence and George were married in Los Angeles in 1941. They raised their son William on the West side of Los Angeles where Florence lived until her husbands death in 1982. She then moved to Rushford, Minn. where she lived the remainder of her life. Florence enjoyed gardening and was also an active member of her local church while in Los Angeles. She is survived by her son, William of Ventura, Cal. Florence was preceded in death by her husband and 12 brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2004, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home Chapel in Rushford with the Rev. Ronald Warnes officiating. Burial will be in the Arendahl Lutheran Cemetery in rural Peterson , Minn. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Good Shepherd Chapel. The family prefers memorials to be directed to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.
