Ferne A. Albrecht

Ferne A. Albrecht, 85 of Galesville, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Bethany Riverside Nursing Home in La Crosse. She was born on November 12, 1933 in La Crosse to Robert and Meta (Kaufmann) Jensen. She married Lester Horton and together they had 6 children but later divorced. Ferne married Darrel Albrecht in November of 1972, were divorced but found love again and were remarried on November 12, 2011.
Ferne provided daycare to many children at Green Thumb in the YMCA and worked as a certified nursing assistant at Sauer Health Care. She enjoyed working outside in her flower garden, bird watching, cooking, going to auctions with Darrel, playing BINGO, and she loved her cats.
She is survived by her children: Gerald (Sharon) Horton, Leon Horton, Carol (Dan) Gohman, Grace (Richard) Thilmany, Tom (Cinda) Horton, Wayne (Rebecca Duellman) Horton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Alma Sennes; many nieces and nephews; and her good friends, Pat Lehnertz and Donna Paine.
Ferne is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lester Horton and Darrel Albrecht; siblings, Robert (Margaret) Jensen and Alice (George) Dikeman; and brother-in-law, Donald Sennes.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodview, with Rev. Lisa Shank officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Pickwick Cemetery.
