Evelyn Stensgard

Evelyn H. Stensgard, 82, of Rushford died Monday, March 31, 2003, at her home. Evelyn was born on July 29, 1920, at North Prairie of Fillmore County to Henry and Betsy (Ramsey) Berge. She was raised at North Prairie. On October 25, 1939, she married Leland Stensgard in Peterson, Minn. Evelyn was primarily a homemaker and also helped her husband farming and in their hatchery business in Rushford. She was a member of the Highland Prairie Lutheran Church, the church circle and ladies aid. Evelyn's interests included bowling, embroidery, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Leland; two daughters: Beverly (Paul) Gittens of Galesville, Wis. and Lolly (Dick) Hungerholt of Rushford. Ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mabel Helland and Margaret (Robert) Stensgard both of Rushford; two brothers: Harvey (Verna) Berge of Lanesboro, Minn. and Curtis (Arlene) Berge of Shakopee, Minn. One sister and two brothers preceded her in death. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2003, at the Highland Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Peterson, Minn. with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
