Evelyn Andring

St. Charles,     Evelyn Phylis Louise Andring, 84, of St. Charles died Wednesday morning January 1, 2003 at her home.     She was born August 1, 1918 to Herman and Elsie (Bittner) Schafer in St. Charles. Evelyn and Cyril Andring were married September 9, 1942 in St. Charles. They farmed near Altura until 1949, when they moved to the St. Charles area to farm. In 1979 they retired from farming and moved in to St. Charles. She then worked for Camera Art of Lewiston for four years. Cyril died July 29, 1985.      Evelyn was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and St. Anne’s Unit. She was also an RSVP transportation volunteer for SEMCAC. She also volunteered at Whitewater Healthcare Center and at St. Charles Elementary School, helping students read.      Survivors include five children, Joyce (Ron) Stricklin of Syracuse, IN; Don (Gail) Andring of St. Charles; Judy Andring of Rochester; Karin (Ken) Peterson of Lewiston; and Dale (Sue) Andring of St. Charles, 14 grandchildren; Jasen, Michael, Cory, Tim, Jared, Matthew, Brandon, Daniel, Vicki & Kimberly Andring, Evelyn Tobias, Krista Peterson and Keri Wahlund, six great-grandchildren, three brothers, Roy Schafer of Cross Lake, MN, Orrin Schafer of Dover and Marvin Schafer of St. Charles, three sisters, Beulah Kampa of Wabasha, Violet Balk of Winona and Inez (Alton) Loppnow of St. Charles. In addition to her husband Cyril a granddaughter Rebecca, a great-grandson Ronnie and a sister Beatrice McDougall have died.      There will be a Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Saturday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday and 9-10 AM Saturday at Hoff Funeral Home’s – St. Charles Chapel. There will be a Rosary recited at 4:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
