Elvira "Ellie" Loretta Krier, age 94, of St. Charles, MN died on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, MN. Elvira was born to Herbert and Mary Margaret (Maringer) Lehnertz on October 6, 1927.
Ellie was united in marriage to Blaine Lundeen and together they raised six children. They later divorced and she remarried Chris Krier.
Ellie was a feisty, hardworking, strong woman. She raised her 6 children on a farm southwest of St. Charles. After being a homemaker for many years she decided to get her GED. She studied at Rochester Area Vocational Technical Institute and became a LPN. She was a nurse at Mayo for 15 years and made long term friendships with her patients.
She enjoyed sewing quilts, crocheting afghans and making crafts for family members. Ellie loved to travel. She has been on cruises to Panama Canal and Alaska. She visited her son, Larry in Washington and traveled to California with her daughter, Gala. She cherished all of those trips including many bus tours.
Ellie is survived by her children, Lance (Marilyn) Lundeen, Larry (Faye Gemkow) Lundeen, Gary (Jo-Ann) Lundeen, Gala (Jim) Afseth, Monte Lundeen, Rory (Pat) Lundeen; brother, Bob Lehnertz; sister, Mary Ann Siebenaler; 8 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Blaine Lundeen, Chris Krier; siblings, Francis, Leora, Iona, Doreen; daughter in law, Linda Lundeen; and grandson, Darin Lundeen.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles, Minnesota at 6 p.m. There will be a visitation prior to the funeral service from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will take place on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Calvary Cemetery in St. Charles at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a charity of choice in memory of Ellie.
