Ellen Enright

Ellen Patricia Enright, age 89, of Winona, MN, died Monday, May 6, 2024 at Lake Winona Manor.

Ellen was born October 5, 1934, in Minot, ND, the daughter of Patrick “Jack” and Helen (Kemp) Enright. In 1940, her family moved to Winona, MN. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Winona, and went on to attend the College of St. Teresa, earning her degree in music. In 1952, Ellen took her vow to become a Franciscan Nun. She worked as a grade school teacher in Waseca, Springfield, Golden Valley, Minneapolis, and Winona. Later in life, she worked at St. Anne Hospice, serving food to the residents, until her retirement in 1999. She was a very active member of Cathedral of Sacred Heart in Winona.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Jean (John) Nett, Kay (Bill) Slade, and John (Ethel) Enright.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews: John (Kris) Nett, Mary (Barry) Powell, Richard Nett, Kate (Todd) Smith, Barb Nett, Joanne Nett, Joe (Darby) Nett, and Steve (Becky) Nett, Mike (Shannon) Enright, and John (Holly) Enright; and numerous great, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be held Monday, May 13, 2024 at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart at 11:00 am with The Very Rev. Mark McNea officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Winona, MN.
