Donald Dean Narveson, known to his loved ones as Dean, passed away on October 12, 2023, at the age of 85 in Chatfield, Minnesota. Dean was born on December 22, 1937 to Baldwin and Mildred Narveson in Chatfield and spent his entire life in the community he cherished.

Dean leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife of 64 years Teresa Halloran Narveson. He is also survived by his daughters Kathy (Mike) Bernard, Kelly (Doug) Nosbisch, Michelle (Brad) Chick, and his son Mike (Lynne) Narveson, brothers Lyle (Doris) Narveson, Jerry (Elsie) Narveson and Butch (Carmen) Narveson, Brother in-law Darrell Bacon, Sister-in-law Sue Pries, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dean will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Brian (Katie) Bernard, Brad (Bry) Bernard, Greg (Tallie) Bernard, Erin (Josh) Fox, Matthew Narveson, Mitchell (Emily) Narveson, Kyle Nosbisch, Abby Nosbisch, Ryan Nosbisch, Anisa (JM) Chick, Kaylee (Ryan) Chick, Kenna Chick, Carter Suchanek. He also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Baldwin and Mildred Narveson, sisters Beverly Polikowsky, Donna Jech and Lois Bacon, brother-in-laws Robert Polikowsky, Robert Jech Larry Joe Halloran and Frank Pries, sister-in-laws Mary Halloran and Linda Narveson, and great-grandson Bennett Fox.

After graduating from Chatfield High School in 1955, Dean proudly served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1958. Following his military service, he dedicated 42 years of his life to the Olmsted County Highway Department, where he made significant contributions. In his retirement, Dean enjoyed driving a van for Bernard Bus company in Chatfield.

Dean was an active member of his community and found fulfillment in his involvement with various organizations. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, JCs, Lions, VFW, and served on the City Council. Dean's commitment to his community extended to his role as the Mayor of Chatfield. Additionally, he was an usher and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chatfield.

Dean had a passion for sports and was an avid fan. He served as an umpire for little league baseball and Chatfield mens softball league. He found great joy in watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren compete in various sports. He rarely missed a game and cherished the memories made on the field.

Funeral Mass for Dean will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chatfield.  Visitation will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 5 - 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and one hour before the service on Wednesday.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, in Chatfield, with Military Honor by the Chatfield VFW Giese Kelsey Post #6913.

Dean's legacy of love, dedication, and community involvement will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be greatly missed, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were touched by his life.
