Donald Fabian, age 81, died on September 6, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN.
Don also known as “big Don” or “Earl” was born on January 2, 1943, to Ernest and Lillian (Bundy) Fabian in Winona, MN. He attended Lewiston High School prior to starting his own milk route. Don had a love for driving semi-truck and drove for many local companies including Schott Distributing, Roger Babcock, Dave Benson Trucking, Benson Farm Service and most recently in his retirement he worked for Miller’s Clear Crest Farms. He was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He was united in marriage to Constance Richmond on August 31, 1963, in Lewiston, MN. Together they were blessed with 2 daughters, Jodi and Jeana. Connie and Don’s mother operated the Fabian Beauty Shop in Winona for several years. Don and Connie also owned and operated the White Knight Bar in Lewiston from 1977-1987. They later divorced. Don also had a brief marriage to Judy Gernander.
Don lived most of his life in Lewiston, MN, where you could often find him on a Friday night in the corner of the local Legion surrounded by friends that he loved to visit with. If you knew Don, he had a very distinct laugh that would light up the room.
Don will forever remain in the hearts of his surviving daughter, Jodi (Mark) Shea Eyota, MN; grandchildren Chelsie (Chanse) Blanshan, New River, AZ; Charishe (Charlie) Davis (Tony Frank), Queen Creek, AZ and Casey (Tim) Allen, Eyota, MN; great-grandchildren, Teagan, Tristen, Eli, Brooks, Vayda, Samuel, Tripp, Lane, Lennon, and newest great-grandson Rocco.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeana Rae; parents, Earnest and Lillian; sisters, Alice and Leona and a brother Harold. Don received great care in his last 5 years from Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Charles Assisted Living, Olmsted Medical Center (Dr. Lynette Lamp) and most importantly all the staff at Mayo Clinic NE Dialysis Clinic.
A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 28, 2024 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church – Lewiston with Pastor Aaron Schrimpf officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A luncheon at the Lewiston Legion Post 90 will be served following the service.
