Debora Rain

Debora Ann Rain, age 68 of Minnesota City, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, after a recent diagnosis of leukemia.

Debora was born on June 26, 1957, in El Paso, Texas. She grew up in and around Winona and graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1975 with honors. She received a degree in cosmetology from Winona Area Technical School in 1976.

In 1976, Debora married her beloved husband, Mike Rain. In their early years together, Debora and Mike spent time in Germany and Colorado while Mike was serving in the United States Army. They eventually returned to SE Minnesota and made their home in the Winona area. Together, they created a beautiful family, and Debora found her greatest joy in her role as a mother and grandmother. She was deeply devoted to supporting her grandchildren's activities and everything they did.

A woman with an exceptional sense of humor, Debora was known for her quick wit, her creativity, and her ability to make people laugh. Her creativity was boundless, whether it was making homemade Halloween costumes and Christmas presents and ornaments, writing poems, or finding the best thrift shop treasures. She passed down this love for creativity to her grandchildren.

Debora enjoyed gardening, going on motorcycle rides, surfing the internet and listening to music on her iPad, and watching scary movies.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; children, Michele (Mike) Steinfeldt, Jennifer (Alan) Fox, Christina (Joseph) Stark, and Eric Rain; grandchildren, Abigail (Ian), Hannah, Julia, Lauren, Ella, Matthew, William, Ava, Haylee, Gavin, and Dova; mom, Luella; sister, Caroline (Tom) Fabian; and beloved dog, Raina.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Christopher; dad Richard Angst; and beloved dog, Reno.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Sobieski Park Lodge, 965 East 7th Street, Winona, MN 55987. A remembrance speaker will share words in celebration of Debora’s life at 6:00 PM.
