Danny Lee Urban, 68, of Dover MN died unexpectedly, Saturday January 13, 2024, at his home. He was born April 8, 1955, at St. Mary’s hospital to Lowell and Betty (Rehbein) Urban. Danny married Catherine (Toot) McBroom on 8/24/74 and divorced in 1998.
He was a skilled carpenter for over 40 years, owning his own business for a time. After moving on from construction he could still be found coming to the rescue of his children. Whether it be home remodeling projects, lending a helping hand or transportation to appointments. He recently retired from hauling large equipment for Ferguson Truck and Trailer Sales.
In his younger years Danny enjoyed participating in Golden Gloves Boxing, bowling, snowmobiling and playing softball for Borgen Oil. He once purchased the Nintendo game Zelda for his kids and then spent three straight days/nights with them trying to save the princess, only to find they conquered the game after he returned to work that Monday! Later on his interests changed to fixing up his 1999 jeep, gambling/etabs, and playing PlayStation. He always enjoyed Western movies and his kids fondly remember him sleeping on the couch with a remote in hand and when they tried to sneak it away his eyes would snap open with a “hey I was watching that”!
He liked to dance and used that as an opener to meet his partner Ruth. Together they enjoyed car rides, trips, family gatherings and attending grandchildren’s numerous activities.
Preceded in death by his parents Lowell & Betty. Survived by his partner of 26 yrs. Ruth Spitzer, five children: Cathy (Kirk) Aske, Kari, Michael, Timothy (Ann), Kala McCann. Siblings: Dale (Kim) Urban, Barb (Jack) Madden, Len (Laurie Helwig) Urban. Five Grandchildren: Alyssa (Jordan) Garris, Makkena Urban, Brinley McCann, Rylee Urban, Regan Urban
