Dakota "Soda" Swenson

Dakota “Soda” Donald Swenson, 29 of St. Charles, died Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Rochester – St. Mary’s Campus. Dakota faced many health challenges throughout his life, but always faced them with courage and determination.

Soda was born February 28, 1996 in Springdale, AR to Rick and Joy (Cummins) Swenson. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 2015 and was very much looking forward to his 10-year class reunion. Soda enjoyed his time covering St. Charles High Schools sports, reporting for the St. Charles Press. He also worked at Hy-Vee South in Rochester as a cashier and was currently employed with Riverside Integrated Solutions in Lewiston.

Soda enjoyed golf, playing games and Trivia and following the Minnesota Vikings. Time with his friends and family though is what he truly enjoyed. Soda was very kind and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

He is survived by his parents, Rick and Joy; sister, Michelle (Brandon) Hubbard; brother, Chris Baron; nieces and nephews, Finlee, Archer and Olivia Hubbard; grandmother, Barbara Cummins; and many aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald & Audrey Swenson and Larry Cummins; uncle, Larry Swenson; aunts, Kristi King and Trudy Friedl; and one cousin, Adam Swenson.

Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the St. Charles United Methodist Church with the Reverend Gerhardt Miller officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Friday at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service – St. Charles and one hour prior to the service at church. He will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery.
