Craig Bren

Craig S. Bren, 71 of Chatfield, died Monday, April 27, 2026 at the Stewartville Care Center.

Craig was born September 23, 1954 in Brookings, SD to Dale and Sylvia (Rymerson) Bren. He graduated from Chatfield High School and attended both Winona State University and the University of Minnesota where he was a tuba player in the marching band.

On October 11, 1980, he married Nina Chesney. Craig worked as a Sales Manager at Tuohy Furniture for 30 years, Krug Inc in Canada for 5 years and Farm Bureau Financial since 2018.

People and connections were important to Craig, whether it was friends, neighbors, community members or strangers, he enjoyed talking to and being around others. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, often without being asked. Craig was a talented musician who played without reading music. He also enjoyed fishing and time on the river in their houseboat with family.

He is survived by his wife, Nina; two sons, Steven and Kevin; brothers and sisters, Gary (Janet), Mike (Deb), Julie (Roger) Ledin, Phil (Sheila), Peggy (Mark) Fratzke and Lisa (Matt) Bradt; sister-in-law, Rene Chesney (Stephon) and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and parents – in -law.

Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Chatfield Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service – Chatfield and one hour prior to the service at church. He will be laid to rest at Chatfield Cemetery.
