Charles Howard Schultz

Charles Howard Schultz, age 82, of St. Charles, formerly of Lewiston, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Olmsted Medical Center Hospital in Rochester after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Charlie was born on February 6, 1943, at Winona General Hospital to Irwin and Grace (Henry) Schultz. He grew up in the Lewiston area, attended the local schools and was a great big brother to his two younger siblings Tom and Bob. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1961, and always stayed in touch with his classmates, helping to plan their class reunions for many years.

Charlie served in the United States Army, was stationed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, and made lifelong friends there. He stayed in touch with many of them and the family made several trips to various parts of the country to visit them over the years.

On October 25, 1969, Charlie and Phyllis Konkel were married in Lewiston, recently celebrated 56 years of marriage and worked together as well. He was employed for 42 years at Camera Art/Herff Jones in Lewiston, making many enduring friendships. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed his job. He especially liked fast cars, motorcycles and road trips. Charlie was a member of the American Legion Post 90 in Lewiston for over 50 years and also a member of the Moose Club in St. Charles. He will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to helping others as well as his love for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughters Ursula (Stacey) McGuire of St. Charles, MN, Vanessa (Brent) Thompson of White Bear Lake, MN, and Camille (Sean) O'Toole Pitts of Austin, TX, seven grandchildren Matthew (Olivia), Mia, Sabrina, Madeleine, Iris, Lochlan, Vivian and one great-granddaughter, Hattie. He is also survived by his brothers Thomas (Jane) Schultz of Bloomington, MN and Robert (Sheri) Schultz of St. Charles MN, as well as several brothers and sisters in law, cousins, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Irwin and Grace, and many other family members that he loved. The family would like to thank everyone who assisted with his care these past several months.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 11 am at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles, MN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 21, 2026 from 4-7 pm at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles and also one hour prior to the service. Military Honors will be presented by American Legion Post 90 on Thursday January 22 at 2:30 pm at Mecklenburg Cemetery in Stockton, MN.

If desired, gifts in memory of Charles may be designated to the Fools Five Road Race for cancer research in Lewiston, or for Parkinson's research at Mayo Clinic Department of Development, 200 First St SW, Rochester MN 55905.
