Carol Jean Montgomery

It is with deep sadness and a broken heart, in which we announce the passing of our beautiful Angel, Carol Montgomery. Carol gained her wings on October 27, 2023.

Carol was born on January 25, 1931, to Harry and Lydia Johnson. She was one of 5 children. Carol graduated from Plainview High School in 1949. On June 6, 1950, Carol married her Sweetheart, Don Montgomery. Together they were blessed with 8 children and 73 years of marriage. Carol deeply loved her husband, children and grandchildren. She also cared and shared her love and kindness to her extended family and her dear friends. She treasured everyone for their uniqueness and for the joy they brought into her life. Carol was employed for 35 years as a bookkeeper for Camera Art. She never passed up on a rummage sale, shopping, or family event. Carol enjoyed the many years spent at Bass Camp Resort. Here she entertained almost every weekend feeding family and friends, and she snuck in many boat rides to go fishing with Don. Mom will be remembered for being the “Best Mom” ever. Her generosity, great sense of humor, kindness and her compassion never went unnoticed.

She is survived by her husband, Don; children, Rena (Mike), Scott, Diane (Tom), Conny, Kristi (Scott), Danny (Lori), Brenda, Dick; 16 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother, Bill (Marilyn); her furry friend Motley; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Carol also leaves behind her special bingo family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lydia; grandson, Joey; brothers, Virgil and Kenny; and sister, JoAnn.

A memorial service will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (180 S. Fremont St. Lewiston, MN) on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 11am. The visitation will be at 10am. Carol will be laid to rest at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery.
