Brian Joseph Ziegeweid, age 67, of Winona, MN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Sugar Loaf Senior Living after a battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Congestive Heart Failure.
Brian was born August 11, 1958, to Lyle and Joann (Bambenek) Ziegeweid in Winona, MN, and was raised in Minnesota City at Lyle’s Interiors. He went to grade school at St. Casmir’s and St. Mary’s Catholic Schools, and attended Cotter High School, graduating in 1976.
After graduating from Cotter, he attended Brown Institute of Radio/TV Broadcasting, graduating in June 1977. He worked in radio for almost 30 years at various stations in Nebraska, Minnesota, La Crosse, WI, and finished his career in radio in 2015.
He married Margaret Ann Reinhardt at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Drand, WI on April 28, 1984 and they later divorced in 2004.
Along with working in radio broadcasting, he worked at several factories including Technigraph, Winona Industries, and Riverside Electronics in Lewiston.
His hobbies included photography and wedding video taping, bowling, Scrabble, Yahtzee, and word-finder, among other things. He enjoyed travelling, going to Hawaii, San Francisco, Spokane, New York City, Boston, Florida, Chicago, a family Caribbean cruise to Mexico in 2006, among other places.
He was an avid fan of the Vikings, Twins, the Wild, Chicago Cubs, and Boston Red Sox.
Brian was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 639 since 1985, participating in the bowing league with Weaver and Sons and also serving as KC financial secretary and bowling secretary.
Brian is lovingly survived by his brother, John (Deborah) Ziegeweid; nieces and nephews: Nicholas (Erica) Ziegewied of Bondurant, IA, Joshua (Carly) Ziegeweid of Minneapolis, and Tara Lynn (Pablo) Centeno of Brooklyn Park. Brian is also survived by grand-nieces and nephews: Sveya Ann, Arya Jo, Jaxon Thomas, Bailey Michael Ziegeweid, and Lucas John Centeno; along with uncles and aunts and many cousins in both the Bambenek and Ziegeweid families.
Brian is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Joann, his maternal grandparents, Vince and Sophie Bambenek and paternal grandparents, Wilmer and Zoa Ziegeweid, along with several aunts and uncles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 10:30am at The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona, with Rev. Joseph Bambanek presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Glencoe-rural Arcadia, WI.
In lieu of flowers, Brian wishes donations be made to Sugar Loaf Senior Living, a Parkinson’s research-related organization, or to the donor’s choice.
