Bonnie Ward

Bonnie Kay Ward, 78 of Altura, Minnesota died at her home surrounded by family on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Bonnie was a beloved partner, great grandmother, grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Bonnie was born to Harry and Norma (Brown) Haack on November 22, 1946. She grew up on the farm just outside of Altura, Minnesota. She was a spirited young girl, one that Grandpa Harry needed to keep an eye on. As she grew into a young lady, she enjoyed music and riding horses. Bonnie graduated from Lewiston High School in 1964. She went on to Harding Beauty School in Winona to become a beautician. Bonnie met her husband, Allen, riding horses and married on July 3, 1965. Bonnie and Allen had two children, Randy and Kelly. Allen passed away May 8, 1997. Bonnie’s main occupation in life was cooking and made the best soups throughout her life. In 1999, Bonnie found her best mate in Bernie Scherbring. Bonnie and Bernie enjoyed wintering in Daytona Beach, Florida with their Florida family. Continuing her love of music, she loved going to the Blue Grass Festivals. She loved her furry companion Cassie Jo and they went on lots of golf cart rides together. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She could not have been more proud of all of them.

Survived by her best friend and partner, Bernie Scherbring; sister, Becky Prebe; brother, Terry (Patricia) Haack; children, Randy (Minnie) Ward and Kelly (Allan) Boice; grandchildren, Nathan (Payton) Boice, Nolan (Adalyn) Boice, Riley Ward and Hanna Ward; great grandchildren, Evelyn Boice, Clay Boice and Ella Boice. Children and grandchildren of Bernie’s were just like her own; children, Jeff (Mary) Scherbring, Scott (Pam) Scherbring, Jay (Jackie) Scherbring; grandchildren, Collin (Alejandra) Scherbring, Jessica (Brad) Romine, Sarah Scherbring, Katie Corcoran, Taylor (Matt) Neumann, Kase Scherbring, Sydni Scherbring, Alyvia Scherbring, Xander Scherbring and Amelya Scherbring; great grandchildren, Sophie Neumann, Bridger Neumann, Lainey Neumann, Sienna Romine and Baby Scherbring.

The honorary pall bearers are Nathan Boice, Nolan Boice, Riley Ward, Hanna Ward, Collin Scherbring and Case Scherbring.

A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles on Friday, June 27, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10am, followed by a service at 11am, officiated by Jodi Heim.

Though Bonnie is no longer with us in person, her spirit shines brightly in the love she gave and the lives she forever changed. She will be missed deeply, remembered fondly, and cherished always.
