Beverly Thompson

Beverly J. Thompson, 83, of St. Charles passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester. She was born August 16, 1936 in Winona, MN to Holliver and Emma (Grossell) Hoch. She graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1955. While a young girl she met her forever love, Harold Thompson, and they were married July 2, 1955 at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Winona. They made their home in Winona for a short time and moved to St. Charles where they raised four children. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and participated in Ladies Aid (LWML). She did in-home daycare while her kids were young and later worked in the kitchen at the St. Charles Elementary School for many years. She enjoyed going to garage sales and going on longs walks. In later years she went on many out-of-state trips with her children and grandchildren. One of the highlights of her life was becoming a grandma and great-grandma. She rarely missed a school activity, concert or sporting event. Her most anticipated days were those when she was going to a baseball or basketball game. She is survived by her four children; Sandy Craven of Victoria, MN; Barb (Scott) Williamson of St. Charles, MN; Tricia (Darin) Ihrke of Dover, MN; and Greg (Joanie) Thompson of Eyota, MN. One brother, Byron (Sherry) Hoch of Cochrane, WI; one brother-in-law, Clifford Thompson, Sr. of Lewiston, MN; one sister-in-law, Lillian Reps of Rushford, MN. Twelve grandchildren - Alyssa (Jamin) Arvig, Aaron (Lisa) Craven, Amber (Brian) Larson, Eric (Michelle) Williamson, Kyle (Nicole) Williamson, Ryan Ihrke, Derek Ihrke, Katelyn Ihrke, Alexis (Nate) Batzel, Allison Thompson, Nolan Thompson and Luka Thompson. Sixteen great-grandchildren - Breanna, Sienna, Isabella, Grant and Gabriella Arvig, Afton Craven, Brady and Cooper Larson, Braeden, Cade and Mia Williamson, Paisley and Isla Williamson, Aviana Ihrke, Braxton and Braylee Batzel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Harold on March 22, 2019; her parents; one sister, Mathilda Thompson; one brother, Allen Hoch; and two great-grandchildren, Piper Williamson and Tate Williamson. A visitation and funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 29 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. The family prefers memorials to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, St. Charles Foundation for Academic Excellence or Seasons Hospice.
