Bernice Onsgard

Bernice M. Onsgard, 94, of Houston, Minnesota died on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Valley View Healthcare and Rehab in Houston. She was born on October 19, 1930, in La Crosse, WI to John and Magdalen (Hafner) VonArx. She was raised in Hokah, MN and graduated from St. Peter’s Catholic School. Bernice married Lowell W. Onsgard on May 28, 1960 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Bernice is survived by her three children; Eileen (Duane) Hegland, Barbara (Ken) Swenson, both of Houston, and Mark Onsgard of Racine, MN; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and brother, Roger VonArx. She was preceded in death by her husband Lowell as well as parents, sister Dorothy Senn and brother Robert VonArx.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, May 9, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 34 Main Street, Hokah, MN. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at St. Peter’s. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Houston Ambulance, Valley View Nursing Home Foundation or St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
