Bernard Heim

St. Charles,     Bernard William Heim, 87, of St. Charles died Monday at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles.     Bernard was born January 4, 1916 in Elba Township of Winona County. He and Bernice H. Ferguson were married December 16, 1937. Bernice died February 16, 1973. On October 4, 1975 he and Jean L. Keanmaster were married. Jean died May 1, 1998.      Bernard farmed from 1940 to 1974 in Elba Township. In 1974 he moved to St. Charles and worked part-time for Schultz Implement and AA Fertilizer.     He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and had served on the church council. He was a member of the St. Charles Moose Lodge and had served as Governor for two years. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus, was an active community volunteer and delivered Meals on Wheels.     Survivors include four daughters, Sharon (Richard) Reynolds of Atlanta, GA; Dr. Diane (F.H. III) Bosworth of Tulsa, OK; Lynda Heim of Eden Prairie and Shirley Heim Barnes (Thomas Barnes) also of Eden Prairie, two step daughters, Linda (William) Borchert of Cheyenne, WY and Susan Griffiths of Kentucky, four grandchildren, four step grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren. In addition to his wives, Bernice and Jean, five brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.      There will be a Funeral Mass 10 AM Saturday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday and 8:30 - 9:30 AM Saturday at Hoff Funeral Home’s – St. Charles Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM and a Prayer Service at 8PM on Friday at the funeral home.
