RUSHFORD, MN - Allan Walter Dahl, 81, of Rushford, MN died on Friday, October 23, 2020, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI.
Allan was born on December 26, 1938, in Rushford to Walter and Tena (Jameson) Dahl. He graduated from Rushford High School. On July 7, 1956, Allan was united in marriage with Marion Engrav. He worked hauling canned and bulk milk for 7 years. He worked in road construction for Woodrich for 17 years and for Denton for 23 years. Allan retired for health reasons in 1999. He was a member of Highland Prairie Lutheran Church where he was also on the church board and was an usher. Allan loved NASCAR, cooking and was known for his famous scalloped potatoes. He enjoyed the Twins and the Vikings, feeding the birds, playing scratch off games, and crossword puzzles.
Allan is survived by his wife, Marion; three sons: Jay (Norma) Dahl of Mendon, MI, Kalin (Beth) Dahl of Tulsa, OK, and Derek (Michelle) Dahl of Post Falls, Idaho; eight grandchildren: Cory (Cindy) Munn, Kandi (Troy) Torres, Travis (Cassidy) Munn, Alexandra (Brandon) Shaw, Victoria Bakkeby, Gabby Bakkeby, Tyler (Sahana) Dahl, and Courtney Dahl; plus Blake, Lauren, and Jack; four great-grandchildren; six siblings: Janice (Hank) Lewis of Mora, MN, Marilyn Kapplinger of Minneapolis, MN, Robert Dahl and Larry (Kay) Dahl of Rushford, Richard (Jennifer) Dahl and Karen Edin of Rochester.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law: Don Edin and Sam Kapplinger.
There will be a family graveside service held in the spring at Highland Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in rural Peterson, MN.
The family prefers memorials directed to the Winona Humane Society or Highland Prairie Lutheran Church. Memorials may be mailed to the family in care of the Allan Dahl family to Hoff Funeral Home, PO Box 625, Rushford, MN 55971
