St. Charles, Bernice Marie Harrison, 83, of St. Charles died Tuesday February 8, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Bernice was born February 5, 1922 in Winona County to Gilbert and Ida (Limberg) Ferden. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1942. During World War II Bernice moved to Milwaukee, WI to work in the war effort. She and R. Wayne Harrison were married April 19, 1946 at North Prairie and farmed in Saratoga Township of Winona County until moving in to St. Charles in 1963. Bernice worked for Wiskow Produce and Home Produce in St. Charles. She also worked for Lake Center Industries of Lewiston and later for Jim's Red Owl and Mike's Food Center in St. Charles. Wayne died November 2, 2002. Bernice was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of St. Charles and had served as Secretary-Treasurer of Church Circle; belonged to W.E.L.C.A. and was church custodian along with her husband. She was a member of Clyde Homemakers, served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, active in St. Charles Senior Citizens; had been a 4-H Leader and was involved with Retired Seniors Traveling Program. She enjoyed quilting, traveling, playing cards, antiques and collectables, gardening and puzzles. She especially enjoyed activities with her grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Sharon (Curt) Vreeman of St. Charles; Dianne (Roger) Perry of Elba and Janell (Kenneth) Kraut of Spring Valley, five grandchildren Becky, Melinda, Brandi, DeAnne and Meghan, six great-grandchildren Tyler, Mackenzie, Cali, Kane, Reece and Mikayla, one brother Leland (Jean) Ferden of St. Charles and a sister Irene Ferden of Waukesha, WI. In addition to her husband Wayne she was preceded in death by a son Jerald Wayne, a grandson Roderick, a brother Gerhard and two sisters, Gladys Sorenson and Marrion Wiskow. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Friday at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery in rural St. Charles. Friends may call from 3-7 PM Thursday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
